Things to do when you feel your prayers are not been answered.
There are days we pray having great faith that we will receive answers spontaneously. Those days comes in various forms. Some days, you will get an express or direct answers while other days will go a long while without answers. It is those moments that defines our lives and show the kind of believer we are. Every true believer have experienced days like that and right now, there are millions of people out there experiencing it. The truth is God is not a man and therefore He never disappoints. No time is too late for God. His time is always the best time. Just that as humans, sometimes we want something so bad that we pray “Dear God, I need this miracle now and right now”. Hoping that the moment we open our eyes or say Amen, the very answers we need will be right there in front of us. But, Oh! No. couple of times, we open our eyes in disappointment and we try so hard not to show it or lose faith remembering what the pastor must have said about trusting God and not giving up. However, the truth of the matter is practically speaking, it is more difficult than in theory.
What then should you do?
WAIT : the scriptures says that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. It’s not just about waiting, but your attitude while waiting. While waiting on God for answers, what do you do? Do you entertain doubts, fears or worry? Instead of all these fear factors and unbelief, form a habit of praising and worshipping God even while waiting.
TRUST : while waiting on God, trust Him for answers. Trust that He knows what’s best for you .Trust His decisions for your life. In Proverbs 3:5 says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. Trusting God is like letting yourself lose knowing God got your back and will catch you if you fall. It is like a child playing around and not worrying at all whether about what to eat or drink because the child knows mom and dad will take care of that. In life, we should worry less and trust God more knowing that He’s never late and His time is perfect.
FELLOWSHIP: Never neglect the gathering of believers. Fellowship here don’t just mean fellowship with God, but fellowship with the brethren. There is this joy that comes with fellowshipping with one another. You get to hear testimonies and the good news. Great and mighty works of God in the lives of others. Fellowship with one another fuels your passion and keeps your faith in God alive. It makes you not to give up and keep on believing. Most times, when believers are in trouble, they stop fellowshipping because they don’t want people to ask them or someone to notice they are going through a challenge. Noooo. That’s a wrong attitude. This is because the devil will isolate such a person for destruction. As believers, we are to join hands and faith together with such person and pray until we receive answers.
KEEP PRAYING: You can’t force God to answer your prayers, but yet you need to exercise relentless effort. In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus told a story of a widow and the unjust judge. This woman kept on coming and coming to the judge everyday asking him to avenge her of her adversaries. She was relentless, persistent and dogged, coming to the judge every day. The scriptures recorded that this judge said within himself “though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest her continual coming weary me”. Jesus ended this parable by asking “if he will find such faith on earth”. Thus, men ought to pray and not faint.
Lastly, I know you have prayed, waited, trusted God, fellowshipped and done all the best you can do. However, the truth is that when the despair is much that’s when your miracle is very close. So keep holding on and don’t give up. If you are weary, you can ask God to help your unbelief and strengthen your feeble knees and I know He will.
God bless you.
